The true value of life

The true value of life is not found in riches or fame, it is found in the simple finer things in life like, love, peace & happiness.
When I was younger, I thought I had to do or be involved with something really big to make a difference and spread peace, love & happiness. Now I believe that I have the ability to create all that every day with every person I come in contact with. I believe the little things matter just as much as the big ones. Rather than feeling like a victim of policies and politicians, I choose to remain an active positive force in helping to heal the world. You and I can heal the world.

Random thoughts - admissable banter

THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

Zimbabwe invest in causing a mind shift in the character of your people

A nation's success depends on the character of its people. If Zimbabwe is to be
successful in reviving its economy and all its decaying institutions, the character
of its get-rich-quick business fratenity has got to change, the character of its
black marketers has got to change, the character of most of its people who had become corrupt, unprofessional and unethical in their business conduct in order to
counter hyper-inflation has got to change. A nation's success is not even dependent
on the security of the nation or its leaders alone because if the character of its people is such that they are resistant to the good sustainable policies that the leaders try to implement for the development of the nation, it will not succeed.
Zimbabwe's leaders should learn from the people of ancient China, who sought protection from the barbaric hordes from the north by erecting the Great Wall of China. It was too high to scale, too thick to tear down and too long to go around, yet during the first 100 years of the wall's existance, China was invaded three times. How was the security breached? The enemies simply bribed the gatekeepers and then marched easily through the gate. The fatal flow in China's security lay in spending its wealth to build a wall but paying much less to build the character of its gatekeepers.

MY WISH STONES Photo from www.fotolia.com

My wish is to be:

Love - So that I ensure that noone's heart gets hurt.
Peace - In order to silence that constant chatter in people's minds
that causes them turmoil.
Happiness - So that I engulf the lives of everyone and eliminate the
word sadness from the face of the earth.
Life - In order that all those who are dying maybe reborn.
Success - So that I reward the hard workers.
The Christian Faith - In order that I encourage Christlike behaviour.
Wisdom - So that I can be the mind opener to the unwise.
Truth - In order that I expose the wolves in sheep clothing and
the skeletons in the cupboards.
A tear - So that insensitive hearts can cry.
A smile - In order that I spread a cheer on people's faces and remove all those frowns.

LONG DISTANCE LOVE Photo from www.fotolia.com

I will still love

Over the weekend I got into a gloomy mood thinking about why I was hurt three months ago in a love relationship and in my quest for answers I started reading the email exchanges between him and myself from the very first day we met each other online. Words of loving and longing from start to finish. I was in Zim, and he was in Oz. As I read over the emails I could sense the intense emotion that was there in the emails on the screen, and I remembered how those very words would make me tingle all over with feelings of love. I asked myself how then that man could have turned around and betrayed me and hurt me. I wondered if that's just the way long distance relationships are, that in time the loving hearts and loving thoughts just fade away because of lack of physical contact. To me that seemed strange indeed, how can those intense love feelings that permeated through geographic boundaries suddenly turn from priority to invisible without warning. Or was I so engrossed in the idea of being in love that I failed to see the tell-tale signs.

I guess that's life and what makes it so great is that we are alive and know that if a heart can be broken then it can be fixed and if it can be lost then it can be won.
Sometimes love sure hurts but what would life be without it? To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly be broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully around with hobbies and little luxuries, avoid all entanglements, lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness....
That would be a hellish heartless kind of life and I personally wouldn't enjoy such a life which is devoid of love. Love, though it hurts sometimes, makes my life worth living, it brings peace, happiness and excitement into life.
I repeat, to love is to take risks, to expose our hearts. Yes sometimes it hurts. It hurt Christ, but he kept on loving, even at the cost of his life. Loving is Christ-like and its better than locking your heart in a coffin of self-centredness.
Even though love has hurt me over and over again I will continue to love because loving is what I do, its what I as a Christian am known for. Take note that the only place outside heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers...of love is hell. So if you are living a loveless life you are actually living in hell.

  1. Seby your thoughts are very interesting. For sure as long as the Zimbabwean business people continue hiking prices like they are doing we will never get out of this economic quagmire that we are in. Tsvangirai himself should organise a serious talk with all business people and appeal to them to change their ways otherwise he will not succeed in his endeavours to change the economic situation in the country.
Talking about wishes, I wish to be:
POLITICS - In order that I make politics a fair game.
TRUST - so that I make everybody trustworthy.
Seby you know I am one person who has always been against long distance relationships, but knowing you I am not surprised that you always go for long distance relationships, you enjoy being celibate and being in love at the same time and it is only long distance love relationships that can give you that combination.

  2. Seby and Chipo, I agree with you, success in changing the economic situation in the country lies in the hands of the business fraternity, as long as they continue to relentlessly pursue abnormally high profit margins at the expense of their customers and the black market continues we won't see any change in our economy. It's about time there is a country-wide approach to instilling everyone's mind with the right Ethics and Professionalism. In fact in order to invest in the betterment of our country for generations to come the subject Ethics & Professionalism should be introduced in schools.
Talking about wishes, my wish is to be:
HOPE - so that I lift the spirits of all those in despair.
GOOD HEALTH - in order that noone will be sick.
Seby, Seby, your banter about long distance relationships and how you were hurt by one had me dropping a tear. I wonder why he failed to see that your love was genuine when all of us your friends, families and colleagues could see it. He will never be loved by anyone else like the way you love him or should I say loved him.

  3. If only the President and the Prime Minister had seen the need to address the cabinet issue as a matter of urgency soon after signing that power sharing agreement by now Zimbabwe will be on the road to revival. The business fraternity in Zimbabwe need to have confidence in the politics of the country for them to stabilise prices, as long as the politics in the nation is still in disarray they will continue with their economic warfare. Yes there is economic war in Zimbabwe and the business people are instigating it. Very unethical I agree but that is politics, it's never fair and the ordinary people are always the once that suffer. Not that I support the business people, I don't, wakore ne greediness yavo iyoyo.
Talking about wishes, I wish to be
INTEGRITY - so that I engulf the lives of all Zimbabwean business people so that they conduct their businesses with integrity.
PURITY - In order that I make all men and women pure.
Seby I am glad that your experience in that long distance relationship did not kill your capacity to love and to receive love. Chipo I know that Seby has been living in celibacy for a very long time now, but that does not mean that she enjoys it, she is just too picky and sets standards for the man she will eventually marry too high. It's very unfortunate that she didn't find the man who lives up to those starndards at home. I personally think long distance relationship can work if both parties commit themselves to the relationship and don't allow themselves to be tempted into fulfilling their sexual needs elsewhere.

  4. Seby, Chipo and Agnes I feel pity for you for being in Zimbabwe at a time when its economy is on such a freefall. Sometimes I wonder how you girls are surviving with the crazy prices of all goods which keep on increasing willy-nilly. I bet if Ike & I had been staying in Zim, I would never had made the mistake of getting pregnant because with such an economy a baby will seem more like a liability than a gift. Hey that doesn't sound right but then this is Zimbabwe we are talking about and nothing ever seems right in Zimbabwe anymore. The economy, the politics, the character of the people, they all seem warped somehow. I hope after the issue of cabinet power sharing has been resolved the business fraternity will revisit the normal rules of economics as well as their ethics & profesionalism so that the people of Zimbabwe are not forced to resort to unethical deals to keep up with the ever changing prices of all goods. Blessed are the few people like my friends Seby, Chipo and Agnes who have remained upright no matter how the economy kicks them left, right and centre.
Talking about wishes, I wish to be FOOD - so that I pour into Zimbabwe like rain and save all those in Zimbabwe who do not have enough to eat.
KNOWLEDGE - in order that I give all African countries the know-how of sustainable growth and development.
About long distance relationships I know that Seby you don't mind having one if you think the man involved is the right one for you and you can remain faithful in such a relationship. But my concern is given the physiology of men, is the man going to be able to live a celibate life, if yes, for how long? I think long distance relationships should not go on for a long period of time without the two people involved working on how to stay in each other's close proximity if they are not yet ready to take the relationship a step further. Love relationships need intimacy and if denied that because of distance, men have been known to stray to other women.
